Dating - How to Enjoy Yourself on a Date

Dating is getting more and more common as there are more single people everyday. Dating can be a great experience or an ordeal depending on how you see it. In order to enjoy a date, there are a couple of guidelines to follow.

For women, the first rule to successful dating is one of security. Arranging to meet your date in a public place and not being alone until you know the person you are with greatly decreases the risks. It is not a question of being paranoid but rather displaying good carefulness. There will be plenty of time later to spend some intimate moments together.

There are subjects that should be avoided on a date, especially if it’s the first one. Such things as talking forever about the ex-spouse will kill any chance of a second date before the first one even ends. It is easy to understand that either way talking about your ex-spouse will turn-off your date. Hence, if a person rambles on and on about how bad their ex-spouse was, their date will fear that she is a bitter person and will leave running away. On the other hand, going over and over about how wonderful your ex-spouse was will have the same effect.

Other subjects that should be avoided on a first date are the ones that are controversial such as politics, religion and your own finances. The conversation on a date should be casual and on the light side.

Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol may be tempting on a first date to lower the anxiety. In overall though, drinking too much alcohol might have the opposite effect and make you say and do things you can regret later on.

When dating, people have to realize that their date can be as nervous about the date as they are. Showing tolerance and non-judging attitude is the best way to go.

When stuck on a date that is far from perfect, adopting a patient attitude and enjoying yourself is still the best way to go. After all, the date will be over soon and you can always move on to the next one.
